Pitt lands Power Forward Transfer

The fallout continues from the Mike Rice fiasco, as another player has jumped ship…and this time, the Pittsburgh Panthers benefitted.

Power forward Derrick Randall has decided to play his remaining two years of college basketball for Jamie Dixon.

Randall is big boy, stands 6-9, with a wide frame and good upper body strength.

The problem is, he doesn’t seem to know how to use it.

Last year he played just eight minutes per game, averaging 2.1 points and 1.5 rebounds.

In fact, if you look at the percentage of boards he grabbed particularly on the defensive end, he’s now one of the worst rebounders on Pitt’s team.

He’s a decent defender, capable of swatting some shots, but he can’t do much of anything on the offensive end.

My point…he came to college raw and he still is after two years.

Personally I’m not sure why Dixon brings him in. Yes, the Panthers need bodies, but giving up a scholarship the next two seasons for a big man who can’t score and is allergic to rebounds seems like a bad move.

Here’s hoping Dixon knows something that Mike Rice couldn’t figure out.
